Welcome to whiskey Friday, the revamp of Ansel and Opie and our first booze review. Whiskey Friday started around 8 years ago when Tiff moved to Chicago. It became a way to catch up with family, say hello and celebrate the end of the work week. It started with flip phone and has since evolved to a FaceTime including two states, three cities, four dogs and six people. The shot of choice, Jameson. We hope you enjoy our new format and join us in raising a glass, or shot, to family.
Jameson Whiskey review

Jameson Original is a blend of pot still and fine grain whiskeys that is as versatile as it is smooth. Triple-distilled and aged for a minimum of 4 years, it is the timeless whiskey that turned into an icon.

Nose: To the nose, Jameson has a light floral fragrance, peppered with spicy wood and sweet notes.

Taste: Perfect balance of spicy, nutty and vanilla notes with hints of sweet sherry and exceptional smoothness.

On whiskey Friday we always do a shot as a family but Jameson mixes well, perhaps too well, with 7up or soda water. It also makes a great whiskey sour. Average price for 750ml bottle is a moderate $25 although with a warehouse club member ship a 1 liter bottle is the same price. For those of you with a palette for older whiskies they have many options available.

Ingredients

60ml of Jameson Irish Whiskey
4 dashes freshly-squeezed lemon juice
1 bar spoon of granulated sugar
1 splash sparkling water

Instructions

Dissolve the sugar with lemon juice and sparking water in a mixing glass
Add whiskey and fill with ice
Stir well
Strain into a sour glass
Garnish with a cherry
